Scholar, Educator, Epicure

My research focuses on domestic cooking and food culture in France at the turn of the twentieth century. My current book project examines the emergence of new mediums of culinary education – demonstrations, competitions, magazines, home economics programs, and culinary schools – and the ways in which they reshaped ideas and experiences of French womanhood in fin-de-siècle Paris. I earned my PhD in French Studies from New York University, where my scholarship was supported by the Fulbright, the Radcliffe Institute at Harvard University, and the Friends of the Oxford Food Symposium, among others.
